about

This is a demo I recorded in July 2019, whilst staying at my aunt and uncle's house, and I think it sounds nice the way it is. I think if I tried to rerecord it, it wouldn't sound better - this track ended up being the product of one moment.

lyrics

You can get used to the difficulty of
Admitting you don’t know
Saying ‘I don’t know’
But it’s a pretty hard phrase to hear
You tell me you don’t know
You tell me you don’t know

We said if we got grey
We’d say so quick
We’d talk it out
We’d make the split
You left me waiting
No goodbye
You didn’t know
I’ll never know why

Maybe I’ll never be a person for a person
Deep down I always knew it
I can’t seem to do it
And it’s some really rough luck to catch
We’re both along the same lines
I don’t know where the blame lies

We said there’d be no blame
There’d be no pain
And yet I’m hurting
All the same
You left me waiting
No goodbye
You didn’t know
I’ll never know why

I’m not afraid to state I haven’t got a clue
But I’ll give it a go
Just take it super slow
It’s a pretty hard phrase to hear
When answers don’t exist
Was there something that I missed?

We said if we got grey
We’d say so quick
We’d talk it out
We’d make the split
You left me waiting
No goodbye
You didn’t know
I’ll never know why
