What Love Is

from soundiseverything by Rowan Lewis

about

The quietest track on the album.
When I thought of the title for this song, I laughed. But then you can actually hear me crying through the lyrics at the end, so I guess that backfired...
(This is an Alex Kralie track.)

lyrics

No mercy for a puppet
And no mercy from the hunter,
Cut the strings instead of getting me out of this tangle.

What I wouldn't give for
A way to go back to refuge
Instead of the rough ropes of capture, letting me dangle,
Over the edge.

I've gone over the edge, my friend
And I'm sorry,
I'm sorry
I let you
down.

No freedom for a soldier
And no disobeying orders,
Bruises on a broken neck from strangulation.

Pain sears through my mindset
Reminding me of my debt
Is living like this better than cranial exsanguination?

I've gone over the edge, my friend
And I'm sorry,
I'm sorry
'bout the answers I left you without.

Yeah, I'm sorry I let you down,
I'm sorry I skipped town,
but what good is sorry going to do now?
Maybe I'll die a tragic hero,
Sacrificed for someone else,
The best I can hope for,
I hope to high hell,
I should have burned those stupid tapes myself.

Cut the strings instead of getting me out of this tangle.

I've gone over the edge, my friend
And I'm sorry,
I'm sorry
I let you
down.

I've gone over the edge, my friend
And if it's too late for you, then it's
way too late for me now.
